Hi, Ive been told by my local bike shop that Raleigh are releasing a new electric bike this year. Have tried to get more information by emailing these guys:

http://www.mailorderbikes.com/

They told me to 'watch this space!' Have any of you guys got any preview info on the ebike? I need to know specs like range, top speed, and weight. Am holding off replaceing my current powabyke until i know what this Raleigh eBike is gona be like. The guy in the shop seemed very excited about getting them in and said they retailed around 1800squideroo. so are on the limits of my budget. Any info would be great, so i can start saving!

Raleigh are launching two types of electric bike, the premium Raleigh Dover De Luxe and a less expensive hub-powered model. An electric bicycle very similar to the Raleigh Dover De Luxe is already available in the UK, the ]Kalkhoff Agattu from 50cycles Electric Bikes as well as lighter models like the Pro Connect and Sahel, and sporty models like the Pro Connect S range. Of all of them, we think the new Pro Connect LX (below) will be the best seller this year - very light, Magura hydraulic brakes, sprung forks. We're shipping the first of them now for £1795 including delivery.

Both brands - Raleigh and Kalkhoff - are manufactured by Derby Cycle in Germany. They produce a range of electric bikes under different brandings - Kalkhoff, Raleigh, Rixe and Focus. They are similar in specification and they're all excellent electric bikes, offering renowned reliability, hill-climbing, comfort and performance. There are tens of thousands of these bikes in use across Europe.

This move by Raleigh will see the Panasonic motor and battery combination making even greater progress into the electric bike market here. Putting very high quality electric bikes into a dealer network will surely raise the profile of ebikes in general. We've sold Kalkhoff electric bikes for best part of three years now and they are phenomenal. Check out some of the electric bike reviews from our customers.
